The Oratory Rams soccer team suffered a devastating 2-0 loss to their in-conference rival, David Brearley from Kenilworth. The Rams took on the Brearley bears with the hope of ruining their senior day festivities. Unlike previous games, Oratory came out very strong, dominating possession and having a few chances on goal led by recent New Jersey Player of the Week winner, Jack Bizub. In the start of the second half, the Brearley Bears came out very hot, forcing a few a corner kicks but the defense was able to eat them up like Joey Chestnut taking down a hot dog. The Brearley defense came out with a much different approach to the second half as they man-marked striker Jack Bizub and midfielder James Gagliano, which freed up many chances for other Oratory players. A suspect penalty kick was awarded which gave Brearley a 1-0 lead. Shortly after a Brearley midfielder scored on a free kick while goalkeeper Sebastian Ramirez was setting up the wall. The Oratory defense was expecting the referee to signal when the free kick could be taken, but to their surprise the shot was taken without any whistle blown. The Rams continued to scrape away but unfortunately the score remained the same. With the loss, the Rams moved to 6-2-1 with the conference championship on the line against Jonathan Dayton on Monday at Cavalero Field.
