A Not So Happy Halloween

Carlo Lutero, Writer

Happy Halloween! . . . Or at least for most of us. On the Friday of October 17th, the phrase “scared to death,” unfortunately became all too real for a teenager in Middletown, Ohio. Christian Faith Benge, a 16 year old, suffered  a fatal heart attack while visiting the “Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park.” She was left for dead for some time due to bystanders passing her by, believing that her corpse was a mere prop in the house. She was left there with no medical attention until it was too late. This medical situation, however, did not come completely by surprise as Benge battled health concerns. Authorities report that Miss Benge  only had one lung. This adversity soon turned into a milieu of issues, mainly regarding respiratory problems. According to her autopsy and her time of death, it is reported that her previous conditions were not the only cause of her sudden death, but were instead assisted by a rapidly increasing problem pertaining to the walls of her heart. The walls had become too thick, making it extremely difficult for her to pump blood in and out of her heart’s domain. Although a final toxicology has not been reported just yet, Benge’s early death was inevitable. The management of the haunted house gave out their condolences to not only the grieving Benge family, but also to the public and anyone else who may have known her.
