Student of the Month: Michael McHale

Student of the Month: Michael McHale

Paul Moyer, Staff Writer

While his charisma and amazing hair make it unlikely, some Oratorians may not know Michael “Mike” McHale. Allow me to change that with a quick bio. Mike McHale attended the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child until sixth grade. From that time on he has been making his mark at Oratory Preparatory School. Committing to Colby College in Maine for lacrosse and making two full court basketball shots in a row are a few of his greater achievements. But the thing by which Oratory will remember him most is undeniably, his impeccable hair. For those unfortunate few who do not know Mike, and for for those who just want to know more about him (and who wouldn’t), please indulge yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime Q&A experience.

Q: “How’s it going?”

A; “How’s it going?! Is that really the question. It’s going fantastic.”

Q: “After going through an arduous recruitment journey, can you describe the feeling you had after making the final decision to commit to Colby College?”

A; “The utmost satisfaction and relief in knowing that I would be able to attend my favorite college in the country. In addition to that, it was fantastic that Colby goes above and beyond all of my expectations in regards to all the factors I want in a college.”

Q: “Do you have any advice for those thinking of putting themselves through the college recruiting process for any sport?”

A; “Yes, first and foremost I would recommend taking your time visiting multiple schools in order to determine what kind of school you would want to go to, and make sure that that college or university is one that you would want to attend regardless of athletics.”

Q: “What do you do to your hair to make it look the way it does?”

A; “Magic.”

Q: “What amazing feat can Oratory expect from you in the final months of your time here?”

A; “I have two answers. My ultimate goal for senior year is to become king of foursquare and my other would have to be create a legacy for myself in being the punniest kid at Oratory Prep, ever.”
