OP Soccer Season Comes to an End

Alex Pompetzki, Editor-in-Chief

Alas, the OP soccer season has finally come to an end after the defeat at the hands (or, I guess, the feet) of Hawthorne Christian Academy. The final game was a nail-biter, remaining scoreless through regular time and two overtimes. There were a few trying moments of disappointment during the game, including two goals that were not counted because of offsides calls, some shots off the post, and a couple of missed handball calls. Eventually, the contest had to be resolved with penalty kicks. Hawthorne Christian netted all five shots to top Oratory’s four and win the game. With the end of this season, the future of OP soccer may face some serious setbacks in the coming years with the especially senior-heavy varsity team graduating all but two of its starters. OP fans, strongly led by the Rowdies, made a great showing at the final game as they have all season, and, despite the unfortunate end to the season, are very proud of all the OP soccer players.
