Consortium Spelling Bee
December 15, 2014

MORRISTOWN – Three of OP’s lower school students participated in the annual
Consortium spelling bee at Delbarton. Three eighth graders participated in the varsity
contest – they were Joseph Cranley, Jake Nowacki, and Justin Oei – with Carlo Bueno
attending as the alternate. Mr. Kennedy served as chaperone. No Oratory students participated in
the Junior Varsity division of the competition, which was won by a student from Ridgedale Middle
School. Justin Oei was knocked out on the word “brethren,” while Jake
Nowacki and Joe Cranley were knocked out on the word “ubiquitous.” In the end, the varsity
division was won by Morristown Beard School. While we did not take home any medals,
it should be noted Cranley and Nowacki tied for fourth place.

CORRECTION 12/16: The word that Messrs. Cranley and Nowacki got out on was “obfuscate,” not “ubiquitous.” The Omega apologizes for any inconvenience.
