New Features Coming to Xbox One
November 9, 2015
With the release of a new console generation, there will always be complaints about what a company did wrong with their new console. With the Xbox One, many feel that it is lacking in some areas, to the point where some gamers have not advanced past the Xbox 360, even when given the opportunity to upgrade. In response to this, Xbox is planning to release a major update to improve their console. Firstly, they will be releasing backwards compatibility. This not only means you will be able to once again play your 360 games with the features of the One at no additional cost, but you will also be able to play and talk with your friends who have yet to upgrade. Another big announcement was about the introduction of a more advanced OneGuide. You will now be able to access things like messages and the Party app without taking a break from your game. This new OneGuide will also allow you to view things on the store including games, movies, and tv shows with just a few clicks. Another feature will be the Community section, where you will be able to view the trends currently taking the Xbox community by storm. Finally, they will be redesigning the Home screen to make it more efficient and easier to switch from feature to feature. In my opinion, this update will greatly improve the One, and may prompt more purchases of the console. Also, as someone with many friends who have not yet upgraded and a massive library of 360 games, this update is very exciting to me. The update will be releasing this November, starting with a select few who are known to give a lot of feedback. These gamers will be getting a message prompting them to sign up to get a preview of the new experience. The experience will come to everyone later this November.
