Jets Vs. Jaguars Recap
November 10, 2015
Week 9 featured a matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets. The Jets gained another win on the season, giving them a 5-3 record. Fortunately, Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to play in this crucial game despite having a torn ligament in his left thumb. He threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over. Eric Decker was Fitzpatrick’s primary target who had 6 receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown. Chris Ivory only ran for 26 yards, but scored two touchdowns for the Jets. The Jets defense played a major role in this game, causing three turnovers. Calvin Pace recovered a fumble while Marcus Williams caught two interceptions. Despite turning the ball over twice, Blake Bortles of the Jaguars had a respectable performance, throwing for 381 yards and two touchdowns. Johnathan Cyprien was the leading tackler for the Jaguars with 13 on the day.
This game proved to be a crucial win for the Jets. Currently, they have a secure spot in the playoffs as a wildcard. A wildcard berth appears to be the Jets only path to the playoffs, as their prospects of winning the division are slim since they share the division with the undefeated New England Patriots. Ryan Fitzpatrick is now back from his injury which puts the Jets on track to win more football games and keep their playoff push alive. Next week the Jets play their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills, a key game for the Jets to maintain their playoff hopes.
Final: NYJ 28 – JAG 23
