YouTube Loans
November 18, 2015
For YouTube creators, YouTube and Lending Club are now offering financial aid to build your channel. This is not really different from other any other loan, aside from YouTube facilitating it. The terms of the contract are pretty nice, and have a 5.99% interest rate (if you have good credit). Fun features include an increase in the number of views on your channel or increase in the number of upload rate. You could qualify for a 5% loan rebate. For example, if you apply for a loan of $10,000 dollars and qualify for the rebate, you will receive $500 dollars. If you are able to pay back the $10,000 in one year and get the rebate, you pay about a 1% interest rate which is pretty good. This is good for Youtubers who don’t have enough money to produce videos and don’t have any form of collateral.
There are two tiers of loan being offered. One is up to $35,000 dollars if you receive an invitation from YouTube, have been operating for less than 2 years, and earn less than $75,000 dollars of annual revenue. The second option is up to $300,000 dollars, if you receive an invitation from YouTube, have been operating for more than 2 years, and make more than $75,000 dollars a year. Since the financial crisis of 2008, lending requirements have gotten a lot stricter. Many Youtubers have looked to Kickstarter, an online funding website, for extra cash. Unless you have a strong fan base, Kickstarters usually fail.
If you are a content-creator on YouTube and need a loan, then this is a good option. If you are unable to increase the numbers of view on your channel or increase the number of upload rate, then YouTube probably isn’t your thing.
