Life of an Out of Season Athlete

Mark Miyashiro, Staff Writer

Two words: couch, and FIFA. These items describe the life of current out-of-season athlete, Mark Miyashiro. Mark is a lacrosse player and cross country runner for Oratory Prep. His sports seasons are the fall and spring. This makes the winter a very happy season for Mark. During this season, Mark is able to go home at a decent hour in order to get his studying done early. No more practices until 5 or meets on Saturday mornings. No, Mark is now enjoying his time on the couch in his family room and his TV on which he plays FIFA 16. Most students look forward to these months – except for John Lally who plays a sport every season. These few months in between sports seasons are cherished and loved by the athletes (unless they are crazy in-love with sports). Some may consider this to be “lazy,” but unless you love running (Corey), one would be able to understand the happiness of being able to go home and sit instead of running from 3-4:30. All I say to you athletes who are not in season is enjoy these moments while you can – summer is a long way away.
