Packers V. Redskins Recap
January 11, 2016
There were many controversies going into this Wildcard matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins. Many believed that the Redskins could actually pull off the upset because of Green Bay’s lack of consistency this season (winning against the Vikings and then losing to them again). But, others say that was the Packers’ strategy in order to gain an easier opponent in their first playoff game. This Redskins game started off with a bit of a scare for Packers fans, however. With the game being played at the FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, the Packers would be faced with a tough crowd and not much cheering for them. In the middle of the second quarter, the Redskins were leading 11 to 0, but the end of the first half was the beginning of the Packer’s comeback. By the end of the 2nd quarter, the Packers went off and scored 17 points in order to take the lead into halftime. From then on, the Packers refused to back down, adding on 18 points and holding the Redskins to one touchdown. This ended the game with the Packers winning their first playoff game 35-18. As they were exiting the field, the Packers could hear their die-hard fans chanting, “Go Packs Go!” as a sign of their confidence in their Super Bowl hopes.
