L.A. Rams Football
January 25, 2016
After years of waiting, Los Angeles finally got their football team back. On January 12, it was announced that the Rams will relocate to Los Angeles next season, beating the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers in the voting for relocation to Los Angeles.
The Rams’ relocation seems very logical, and will benefit the franchise. This season, the St. Louis Rams ranked last in the NFL in attendance, averaging only 52,402 fans attending each home game. In their new home in Los Angeles, it is expected that attendance will skyrocket, generating substantially more money for the franchise. Los Angeles’s large population, its status as a major media market and its many celebrities will all serve to draw spectators and fans. Los Angeles Laker legend, Magic Johnson, was the first to reserve Los Angeles Rams season tickets just days after the Rams’ announcement.
Despite the Rams’ move, it is expected that they will not make the playoffs next season. Although the Rams have a solid roster, their team is not good enough to produce enough wins to clinch a playoff berth. However, with young Todd Gurley at quarterback, the Rams could rebuild around him to make the Los Angeles Rams a contender in the near future and possibly earn a trip to the Super Bowl, as they did when they were last in Los Angeles.
