NFL Week 3 Recap
October 3, 2016
Week 3 of the NFL season was was either the best week ever or one of those weeks where you hoped that the results were all a fluke, depending on which team you supported. Thursday Night Football saw the Patriots (somehow) continue to roll as they stomped the Texans 27-0. Sunday’s winners were the Ravens, Redskins, Packers, Dolphins, Vikings, Broncos, Bills, Raiders, Rams, Seahawks, Eagles, Chiefs, and Colts. In the Sunday primetime matchup, Dak Prescott continued to impress, leading a Cowboys offense to 31 points in a strong win at Chicago to boost the Cowboys to a 2-1 record. The Falcons beat the Saints in the Monday night matchup.
Week 3 was a show of elation, heartbreak, or despair across the board. The Ravens edged out the Jaguars 19-17. Josh Norman triumphed once again in his rivalry with Odell Beckham Jr. as the Redskins won 19-17. The Browns came close, but not close enough as they lost in overtime to the Dolphins 30-24, falling to 0-3. The Vikings continued to shock the NFL, continuing their excellent form on defense to beat the Panthers in Carolina 22-10. The Bills defense recorded four interceptions while the Chiefs defense recorded six interceptions and two fumble recoveries as they got wins against the Cardinals and Jets, respectively. The Rams and Eagles both ran juggernaut offenses as they scored 34 and 37 points respectively in strong statement wins. Tevin Coleman saw the end zone three times in a 45-32 Falcons win.
Week 4 should be able to sort the contenders from the pretenders as teams look to get into playoff positions in their respective divisions. The Packers and Eagles are the only teams on a bye this week. Important matches include: Bills @ Patriots, Titans @ Texans, Panthers @ Falcons, Seahawks @ Jets, Raiders @ Ravens, Saints @ Chargers, Chiefs @ Steelers, and Giants @ Vikings.
