NFL Week 4 Recap

Fred Tang, Staff Writer

Week 4 of the NFL season was a rather surprising week in terms of results.  Thursday Night Football saw the Bengals top the Dolphins.  Sunday’s winners were the Jaguars (in London), Bills, Texans, Bears, Falcons, Seahawks, Raiders, Redskins, Broncos, Rams, Cowboys, and Saints.  The Steelers looked great with Le’Veon Bell back from suspension as they routed the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football 43-14.  The Giants fell to the Vikings on Monday Night Football.

Week 4 was headlined by the amazing performances of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.  Despite facing a Carolina defense that was determined to shut down the Falcons’ offense, Matt Ryan passed for 503 yards and four touchdowns while Julio Jones recorded 300 receiving yards and a touchdown as the Falcons beat the Panthers 48-33.  Russell Wilson (Seahawks), Brian Hoyer (Bears), and Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) all passed for 300 or more yards in victorious efforts.  Le’Veon Bell (Steelers) and Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) recorded the most rushing yards in Week 4.  Mike Nugent was busy as he kicked five field goals for the Bengals.

Week 5 is an interesting week as teams look to remain relevant, as an inability to continue a good start or a failure to recover from some early season setbacks could be the difference between making the playoffs and waiting for the next season to roll by.  The Jaguars, Chiefs, Saints, and Seahawks all receive a bye this week.  The matches this week are: Cardinals @ 49ers, Texans @ Vikings, Bears @ Colts, Jets @ Steelers, Titans @ Dolphins, Eagles @ Lions, Redskins @ Ravens, Falcons @ Broncos, Bengals @ Cowboys, Chargers @ Raiders, Bills @ Rams, Giants @ Packers, and Buccaneers @ Panthers.
