Odell Beckham Jr. and his Tomfoolery

Tyler Bayudan, Staff Writer

Last week, it was the Baltimore Ravens vs. the New York Giants. Odell hasn’t been the “star” player we have all come to know. Recently, he locked in 23 yards against the Vikings and 56 yards against the Packers. Despite these mediocre numbers, he bumped this up to 222 yards yesterday afternoon. OBJ even caught the winning touchdown for a final score of 23-27. The Giants won. Hooray, they are now 19th overall. Even though they won, it wasn’t the “main attraction” everyone was buzzing about all over social media. After Odell caught the winning touchdown, he went over to the net (a previous joke made in the past few weeks), got down on one knee, and actually proposed. The net reluctantly said yes. Say what you will about Odell’s funky clothes and dances, but this event stole the show. To me, this net joke is getting a bit dry and old. Of course, the video of Odell smacking the net and it hitting him back is hilarious, but to keep it going is getting kind of weird. Even Mike Francesca says so. “Why would anybody want to make it bigger than it is? I saw things from media people saying, ‘Oh, this is hilarious.’ Hilarious? What’s funny about it? I think it’s the most selfish, dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Is this worldwide wrestling now we’re running here, or is this the NFL?”, the WFAN host said. He sounds genuinely angry about this, probably because if you look at the whole thing, it’s just plain foolish. It was funny the first time, but it will eventually become stale and repetitive to many people. However, this is just my opinion. What are your thoughts? Do you find it gut-busting funny or idiotic?
