NFL Week 7 Recap
October 28, 2016
Week 7 of the NFL season had a mixed set of results. The Packers took care of business on Thursday Night Football match to pick up the victory. Sunday’s winners were the Giants, Chiefs, Eagles, Colts, Dolphins, Lions, Bengals, Raiders, Jets, Chargers, Buccaneers, and Patriots. The Cardinals and Seahawks slogged through an uninspiring game on Sunday Night Football, resulting in a tie after overtime as the kickers for both teams missed possible game-winning field goals in sudden death. Brock Osweiler returned to Denver, this time as the Texans quarterback, in a 27-9 loss on Monday Night Football.
There were many players who had great games in their teams’ victories during Week 7. Jay Ajayi became the first running back since 2002 to run for 200+ yards in two consecutive games. This time, his victim was the Buffalo Bills defense, which he carved up for 214 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 28-25 victory. Philip Rivers threw for 371 yards and a touchdown to lead the NFL in throwing yards for the week as he helped the Chargers to beat the Falcons 33-30 in overtime. Landon Collins had a pick-six to help the Giants get a much needed win in Los Angeles against the Rams 17-10. The Eagles made a fantastic team effort to take down the last undefeated team, the VIkings, 21-10. With 1:05 remaining in the game, Matthew Stafford led the Lions 75 yards down the field on a game-winning drive to beat the Redskins 20-17. Geno Smith faced disappointment yet again with a torn ACL ruling him out for the season. Meanwhile, Ryan Fitzpatrick did the best he could with this new opportunity and led the Ravens to a 24-16 win. The Falcons suffered another heartbreaking loss, losing to the Chargers 33-30.
