OP Lax vs. Depaul Catholic

Mark Miyashiro, Staff Writer

It was a windy day in Summit, New Jersey when the OP lax team walked out onto the field. As it was still early, the team decided to begin their warm-up and then discuss the opponent’s scout. This proved ineffective, sadly, as the Rams came out relatively flat. They went down 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, but they were determined to bounce back. The second quarter was decided by a score of 7-2 in favor of the Rams, giving the Rams an 8-6 lead going into halftime. From there, they never let up. Although Depaul fought back to tie the game twice, the Rams never allowed them to pull ahead. Up 13-12 with 2 minutes left in regulation, Mark Miyashiro netted the final goal to put the Rams ahead 14-12 with 1:30 on the clock. Depaul did manage to score, but that was not enough as the Rams won by a decision of 14-13 and improved to 8-6 on the season. The boys now look ahead to Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Thursday and aim to continue their stride of excellence with only four more games left in the season.
