Environmental Club Interview with Mrs. Pasnik
October 24, 2017
This week, I was able to sit down with Mrs. Pasnik and discuss the Environmental Club:
Me: Hi Mrs. Pasnik, how are you?
Mrs. Pasnik: I’m good Jack, you?
Me: I’m alright. So I’ve heard about the startup of your new club, the Environmental Club.
Mrs. Pasnik: Yes, I’m sure you have.
Me: Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?
Mrs. Pasnik: Of course not, go ahead.
Me: Great. So, what gave you the idea of starting this new club?
Mrs. Pasnik: I got the idea of starting an Environmental Club from some students in my AP Environmental Science class last year. The former Environmental Science teacher had run a club, and the students had had a lot of fun in it. At the end of AP last year, we wrote the club mission statement and came up with some ideas about what we wanted to do as a club. Mike Urbinato and Jon Misihowsky were elected co-presidents.
Me: What’s the club all about? What activities will you guys do?
Mrs. Pasnik: So far, we have talked about selling reusable water bottles to cut down on the use of single-use water bottles. We want to use the money to put in water bottle fillers in the water fountains. We are working with the student life committee to get this done. We have also talked about trying to get better recycling at Oratory. Currently, the bins in the classrooms are only for paper and not for bottles or cans.
Me: Have you run an Environmental Club in the past?
Mrs. Pasnik: No, I have never run an Environmental Club in the past.
Me: Would you ever combine the Fishing Club and the Environmental Club on a field trip?
Mrs. Pasnik: I haven’t thought of combining the two clubs.
Me: Anything else you’d like to share about the environmental club?
Mrs. Pasnik: That’s really it. It’s pretty straightforward. Thank you for your interest in the club.
Me: My pleasure. It was great interviewing you. Thanks for the information!
