Lacrosse Recap
April 18, 2018
Oratory won big last week, a feat which kind of slid under the radar due to the long weekend. So Oratory won on its home turf against MKA in a crushing 12-7 victory. Now, while that may not sound like an absolute shattering of a team’s will to live, one should note that by the end of the 3rd quarter it was 10-4, and despite being hopelessly outmatched, MKA went for the comeback bringing the score to 10-7. Not even close to being fazed, Oratory shot back gaining two goals, ending MKA’s rally and leaving them in the dust. Another thing to note is attack Brian Windish personally tied the other team by scoring 7 goals. That’s right! One of our guys tied the entire opposing team in goals… so yeah wrecked em’.
This Tuesday, our JV team went into the middle of nowhere to combat Cedar Grove. Shoutout to Richard Williams for taking the faceoff and actually winning one despite having no idea what he was doing. So this game, in 40-degree weather, in the middle of April, was an absolute blast to play. Freezing in shorts, our defense held them off, and by the end of the third quarter, it was a dogfight with a 3-3 tie. After a clearly failed attempt due to an unlucky pass, Cedar Grove picked up the ball and with our defense scattered, a true formation could not be set up before someone fired it into the back of the cage, and with the one point lead Cedar Grove came swinging, scoring again to win 5-3 in a tight game.
With that, the boys are rallying up to beat Arthur L. Johnson (whoever that is?) High School on Thursday and to destroy Columbia on our home turf at 10 am.
