Getting to Know OP’s Newest Chemistry Teacher: Mr. Gordon
September 27, 2018
This past week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Oratory’s newest Chemistry teacher, Mr. Andrew Gordon. I decided to ask him 5 personal questions and 5 questions regarding Oratory to find out how he is adjusting to a new school, much like some of the new students. Here were my questions, and his corresponding answers.
Q: How many years have you been teaching?
A: I have been teaching for a total of 3 years now.
Q: Have you taught subjects other than Chemistry?
A: Yes, I have taught the subjects of physics and geology, as well as Chemistry.
Q: What is your favorite hobby?
A; That’s a tough one. I enjoy many things outside of teaching, however I do enjoy working on New York Times crossword puzzles each morning to get me going. I also enjoy ultimate frisbee as well.
Q: Who is your biggest role model?
A: I gotta say that it would be my fifth grade teacher named Mr. Chambers, who truly got me passionate with the subjects of Math and Science. Along with him, I would also say that my parents are huge role models for me, as they have taught me the virtues I use today.
Q: What is your favorite football team and why?
A: The Miami Dolphins because I grew up in Miami for the first seven years of my life.
Q: What are you most excited for this year at Oratory?
A: I am excited to teach new kids, as well as to learn and get to know more students and colleagues.
Q: What school sport are you most excited to watch?
A: I am quite excited for the basketball and soccer games here at Oratory.
Q: So far, what is your favorite food from the Cafeteria?
A: I have not eaten from the cafeteria yet, but from what I’ve heard it’s quite good, so I’ll need to try that out one day.
Q:If you could get anything from the snack vending machine, what would it be?
A: Doritos, no question.
Q: What teacher have you bonded with the best through the first 3 weeks of school?
A; Mrs. Pasnik?
Mr. Gordon, a very unique and nice character, looks to be a great addition to the OP community. Be sure to say hello to him if you see him in the hallway, and don’t be afraid to spark up a conversation with the interesting Mr. Gordon!
