OP Golf Tees Off Season With Two Wins

One of the more under-appreciated sports at OP is the golf team. Recently (within 10 years) one of the best in the state, Oratory golf is no joke.

The Rams opened their season in a match versus Union Catholic. OP defeated the Vikings fairly handily by a total of 37 strokes with a 183-220 W. The Rams are led by Junior John Clarke. Clarke was great vs UC carding a 37 over 9 holes. Additionally, Senior Pete Skinner shot a 45. Sophomore Kieran Bergin shot a 46 with Marchese, Manahan, Scaramella, and De Rosa each posting a 54.

Next up for OP, was Governor Livingston. Clarke continued his dominance again carding a 37, 8 strokes better than the next leader, his teammate Pete Skinner. Dylan McNaughtan shot a 48 and Bergin and Marchese shot a 52 and 53 respectively. Thanks to the southpaw Clarke, OP remained undefeated.

Westfield was the next opponent for OP. Unfortunately, the Rams win streak (does 2 count as a win streak?) came to an end, losing 182-167. Clarke cooled off slightly posting a 40. Skinner shot a 43 and McNaughton broke 50 with a 49.

Despite the most recent loss. OP golf remains 2-1 on the young year and hopes to get back at Westfield on the 3rd.
