November 2, 2022
As many of you may know, the MLB World Series started on Friday, October 28th. The matchup is between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies. These teams both have had a great postseason heading into this final round. The Astros may be the favorite, but the Phillies are ready to shock the World. Here’s what you should know about both teams.
Houston Astros:
The Houston Astros come in as the Major favorite for this series, as they are the #1 seed in the American League, and had 19 more wins than the Phillies. Their team is highlighted by the young Phenoms Jermey Peña and Yordan Alvarez. Peña in his first postseason has put up a .303 batting average, a .991 OPS, and a .324 OBP. On top of all this, he got some shiny Hardware in the ALCS from winning the ALCS MVP. He looks to continue this amazing postseason, and help his team win a title. Besides the Young Star, Veteran Yuli Gurriel has put up a .367 Batting Average, a .934 OPS, and a .367 OBP. He is a Veteran, and he is doing a great job at showing the youngsters on this team how to perform in the postseason. The Astros have been in the World Series before, and they know how to perform. They will put up a fight and hope to Win the World Series.
Philadelphia Phillies:
The Phillies come into this series as the heavy Underdog winning only 87 games, and barely sneaking into the playoffs. They ran past the Cardinals in the Wild Card in a two-game sweep, and stomped over the defending champs in just four games. Finally, they went into the NLCS as underdogs once again and came out victorious in five games. They have shocked the Baseball world this postseason, and look to continue that. Their success has come mainly from superstar Bryce Harper. He put up an impressive .419 Batting average, a 1.351 OPS, and a .444 OBP. Just to top it off he hit five Home Runs in that span. He got the NLCS MVP, and hit the game-winning Homerun in the eighth inning of game Five of the NLCS. Rhys Hoskins is another notable player on this roster. Although he is only batting .182 this postseason he has had some of the biggest and most electric home runs this postseason. All in all the Phillies are an amazing team and they hope to win the World Series.
This is going to be a fun series to watch as both teams are amazing, and could win on any given day. If you were to ask who I think will win I would say the Phillies in 7 because of their Energy and long-lasting innings. They score a lot of runs all in one inning, and they can put up ten in a game. Either way, this is going to be the best series this Postseason.
