This year MLB fans have seen a new form of the Yankees, in which they have failed to win the number of games they usually do and be an automatic spot in the playoffs. The Yankees (76-74) trail the Rangers for the last wildcard spot by 2.5 games, leaving them with a 0.7% chance of making the playoffs. The Yankees do not seem as great as they usually are, in which they have dealt with several injuries down the stretch, such as Aaron Judge getting injured for 56 games, Anthony Rizzo, DJ Lemahieu, Gleybor Torres, and others. Aside from those, one notable loss that gained a lot of attention was Jasson Dominguez tearing his UCL, having to undergo Tommy John Surgery. Tommy John Surgery is more known for pitchers to get but recently, there have been more and more position players who have been getting this. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, he says that Dominguez will be out for 9-10 months. Although he is seen to make a full recovery, this is a very big injury that will most likely impact the rest of his career. It’s similar to tearing an ACL in football, which after you tear your ACL you most likely are not the same. The only question remains is will this loss prevent them from even having a chance at the playoffs, and are we gonna see Dominguez next season.
