The Engineering Club is a fairly new club here at Oratory, having been founded just two years ago. Our Engineering Club is known for providing a relaxing and fun environment for students to explore various engineering topics. With the help of moderator Ms. Cantrell, members do plenty of hands-on activities to familiarize themselves with different electronics. In an interview with former president Brandon Scortino ‘23, he said, “From building a drone, motors, and many other exciting projects [he] got to learn about engineering in a way that was fun.” Oratory’s Engineering Club is also another great way to meet new people who share a similar interest as you.
One of the highlights of the past school year was a private tour of Lehigh University’s engineering department. Students took a day off from school to see world-class engineering research labs, learn about real-world engineering, and much more. This trip also served as a great opportunity for the boys to get a sense of the college life. Ms. Cantrell is hoping to do this trip again this year.
For those wondering, the club typically meets every other Thursday after school in Room 201 and the doors are open to anyone interested. No prior experience is required to join. A better way to get more information about OP’s Engineering Club is to stop by their table at our annual Club Fair, which will be held this Friday, September 22nd. The club is set for another fun and informative year. I highly recommend you stop by and see everything else this club has to offer.
