On Wednesday the Rams took on Union County foe Johnathan Dayton (Springfield,NJ). OP defeated them last year in the UCC Tournament 6-1. Before the game the Rams honored their seniors, Captain Sean Van Hoven, Ryan Tole, Jack Pastore, Andrew Zapata, Connor Tole, and Luis (Bestia) Cueva. Coming into the game, the Rams dropped two games to conference rivals Rahway and Linden. This game was crucial to win. The offense would finally come to play by scoring in the first five minutes, thanks to a Henry Griffiths cross and Sean Van Hoven header. Dayton would tie the game in the 39th minute of the half, showing the Rams that they needed more offensive fire power to win the game. The Rams would answer with the second Griffiths to Van Hoven goal of the game, in which the Rams regained the lead. Griffiths would go onto to get one of his own off of a Connor Tole long throw in, putting the Rams up 3-1 with 20 minutes left to play. Captain Max Cook would get his fourth goal of the season off a free kick outside the box. Cook and Van Hoven now lead the Rams in scoring for the season with four each, as Griffiths leads the team in assists with four as well. George Fagan would earn the win with 2 saves, letting up one goal. The Rams carry this momentum going into Elizabeth on Thursday, as they look to add to their goal and win tally.
