This past Friday, Oratory Prep students and faculty gathered in the Bain gym to watch the annual talent show. The OP Talent Show is a showcase of the various talents that OP students and teachers alike have. The judges for this event were Mrs. Bajkowski, Sutton Collins, and Mr. Manna.
The show started with Dom Volpicelli’s rendition of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” This Elvis Pressely classic set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The funniest act of the afternoon was the lip sinking of “Love” by Keyshia Cole. John Pirone, Jalen Brogdon, Noah Falcon, Dillion MacNaughton, John Wisniewski, and Victor Larach captivated the crowd with their act. Despite harsh criticism from Mrs. Bajkowski, both Sutton and Mr. Manna praised this act, giving the crew enough points for a third-place finish.
There were two acts that showcased the talent of OP Faculty. Mr. Crum stole the show by performing his own song, “Earn Your Scars.” The crowd was captivated, as were the judges. Mr. Crum ended up receiving the most points from the judges, thus giving him a first-place finish. The unofficial teacher band (named Spiderwomen by Mr. Harrison) finished the show by playing two songs. Much to the dismay of the crowd, Mr. Manna gave the crew a poor score. In a legendary moment, Mr. Van Hoven called out Mr. Manna for giving them a low score and left the crowd with a mic drop.
Other incredible acts included Charlie Kling juggling and Sebastian Wodeki playing the piano. The student council also deserves a shoutout for their rendition of Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel.” Everyone who participated in the talent show should be proud of their work. All of OP thanks the teachers and students who helped put the show together.
