Oratory Soccer, once 3-7-1, have improved their record to 6-7-1, winning three games in a row. The Rams traveled to Roselle Park to face the Valley division team, who have beat some qualities opponents this season. Roselle Park’s field was a grass field, in which the Rams knew that they were not a very great grass team. The Rams knew that Roselle Park’s play style was very direct, so the OP defense had to be very strong, because they knew it would be a low scoring game.
In the first half the Rams missed a key opportunity to take the lead and the first half ended 0-0. Oratory’s defense was very strong, not allowing a real threat to happen, or any shot as well. In the second half the Rams would finally get on the board thanks to a Connor Tole goal ten minutes in. Tole’s goal would be the first of his career, in which it was assisted by Henry Griffiths. As the Rams continued to be strong defensively, they would go onto score another goal to double their lead thanks to Ryan Tole’s first goal of the season. This goal happened because of some key playmaking by Andrew Zapata, in which he earned the assist. With only 6 minutes left in the game, Henry Griffiths would put the icing on the cake by putting one just past the keeper into the left corner for his 6th of the season. Griffiths also earned an assist, increasing his team leading number of assists to 12. The Rams would go onto to win 3-0, as George Fagan only made one save, in which his defense and he were able to earn their second clean sheet of the season. Connor Tole would earn his first MOTM this season for having a very crucial goal, and playing superb defensively in which he helped keep the clean sheet. The Rams play Morris County foe Chatham on Saturday, hoping to keep their winning streak alive, and take some momentum into states.
