The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a leader in the global fight against blood cancer. Their mission is,“ to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families”. By raising $1.6 billion for research into life-saving treatments, being an advocate for policies that protect access to treatments, and providing free educational and support resources for patients and their families, LLS is making the lives of those affected by blood cancer better. This work is all in the effort to achieve a future without blood cancer.
Every year, LLS offers a leadership development program for high school students, named LLS Student Visionaries of the Year. Doing this, student leaders take on a seven-week journey to raise funds to aid in the fight against blood cancers and compete for the title of Student Visionary of the Year. This year, Oratory Prep is hosting two teams for the Northern NJ competition: hOPing for a Cure, run by George Fagan and Charlie Magistro, and Drop of Hope, run by Brody Sheehan. Look for ways to support these teams in their efforts starting on January 10th to March 2 — all funds need to be raised within this span so look for donation opportunities in the near future.
