The Winter Track season has just gone underway and there are lots of things the Coaches have to say about it. Coach Joseph Seebode and Coach Matthew Sartori believe that this year’s team is full of promise. Coach Sartori, a new recruit to the OP staff, hopes to help improve the team this year. Sartori wants to help improve himself as a coach, and his runners, and if he hopes to go back to nationals this year. When asked what he thought of the team, Sartori replied, “There’s only room for improvement.”
When Coach Seebode was asked what his goals were for this season, there were two recurring themes; break some records, and go back to nationals. Building a strong community that looks out for each other and welcomes newcomers is something Seebode wants to do with the Winter Track team this year. Similar to Sartori, Seebode has optimistic views for this season. The team has doubled in size this year, and knowing that, Seebode believes that that’ll give everyone a lot more confidence this winter season. The track program is expected to be very strong this season, especially because the jumpers have transferred over this year. When asked what his thoughts on the jumping events were going to be like, Seebode said, “The Costa brothers will make a big dent.” After coming off a great cross-country season, and with lots of returning athletes, there’s nowhere to go but up.
