A couple of weeks back, I made a breakfast sandwich review on a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. After the article, I got a lot of good feedback from my peers at The Omega. Therefore, I will make this a series. The next place I am off to try is A&B Bagel’s in Morris Plains.
Before going into this review, I need to give you some context. I rarely go to Morris Plains for bagels, as it’s a little out of the way. However, a fellow Oratory Ram’s father, the magnificent Mr. Breault, apparently goes there a lot–and he loves it. In doing so, he rambles about the bagels a lot to my dad. I think, for the most part, that the magnificent Mr. Breault is a trustworthy man who gives good advice. While I still trust the man, I must verify.
Now, onto the review. I will keep up the precedent of ordering the classic Taylor ham, egg, and cheese bagel. When I opened up the bagel from the hot tin foil, it smelled very nice. The bagel was warm and soft. At first glance, I could see the layout of the bagel: Bagel, cheese, two slices of Taylor ham, egg, and bagel. I didn’t love how the Taylor Ham was bunched up together, rather than spread around the bagel like the one at the Bagelry. Then I took my first bite. It was a very neat bite. Nothing got pushed out of the bagel. The bread of the bagel was fairly thin. It wasn’t very fluffy either. The Taylor Ham was nicely seasoned. The cheese coupled nicely with the Taylor Ham, but it didn’t burst out to me. But the egg was pretty bland.
The Rating:
I will rate the sandwich the same way as I did the last one: three points for the bread and the Taylor Ham, and two points for the cheese and the egg. After I rate them individually, I will add all of them up.
Bagel: 1.5/3
Taylor Ham: 2.5/3
Cheese:1/2
Egg: 1/2
Total: 6/10
I didn’t love the bagel. However, perhaps Mr. Breault and I can debate about this the next time we see each other again.
