Over the NFL offseason, multiple teams unveiled new retro uniforms for the upcoming season. Not only did these teams wear throwbacks from the old days, but they also decorated their entire field and stadium to recreate the retro feel. In this article, we are going to dissect these uniforms to determine whose vintage jersey is the best.
- Lions
- This uniform is too boring. The only difference from the regular jerseys to these is the name/ number fonts. The helmet is the most interesting part of this uniform simply because it has no logo on it and sticks out
- Falcons
- These jerseys keep the same colors as their normal jerseys, but it is kind of boring. It is all black with the red highlights. The helmet and change of the logo are what save these jerseys from being a little lower in our ranking.
- Cleveland Browns
These jerseys are not bad, but they are a little boring. They are all white and the brown and orange are implemented well, but there are better and more creative jerseys with better history behind them.
10. Indianapolis Colts
- Most people forgot about these jerseys, but when the Colts wore them against the Browns, they looked great. The subtle camouflage and the dark sleeves combine for a solid jersey. The only reason this jersey isn’t higher is because it looks a bit too similar to their regular jerseys.
- Broncos
- The orange and white are mixed in nicely throughout the uniform. However, I am not as big of a fan of the helmet and logo as others. I personally do not like the horse in the logo, and it looks like it is shooting a laser. Seeing these jerseys may make you think of Shannon Sharpe and John Elway. Image from Denver Broncos
- Patriots
- The colors are very patriotic and they are very bright and lively. I am however not the biggest fan of the bright red, but the helmets with the different logo bring this uniform up. These uniforms may remind you of only a couple of years ago when Tom Brady dominated the NFL winning 6 Superbowls with the Patriots. You may also think of other players like Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman.
- Jets
- These jerseys are both basic and clean. The green and white go together very well. The older Jet logo on the green helmet is very nice as well. The promotion and arrival of Aaron Rodgers made these jerseys must-buys. These jerseys give a nod to the New York Sack Exchange in the 80s which featured players such as Mark Gastineau and Joe Klecko.
- Buccaneers
- The orange of the creamsicle uniforms is a very nice color plus the old logo is very cool as well. The color combination and pattern as good as well. These jerseys originally were worn from 1976 to 1996 until they were changed in 1997. Since fans loved them so much they brought them back in 2009 for special occasions.
- Giants
- The colors may be similar to the regular uniforms, but there is no denying how clean these jerseys are. The different blue with the white and red highlights and designs make these jerseys super eye-catching. The old logo on the helmet is also a very cool and nice touch. Seeing these jerseys may make older fans think of players such as Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms and also their early dominance where they won 2 Superbowls before 2000.
- Titans
- The colors on these uniforms are very cool. The blue along with other smaller details like the red face mask and the logo change on the helmets are what make these uniforms unique. This may remind older fans of the Oilers, which is the original name of the Titans. The franchise moved from Houston to Memphis in 1997 and then to Nashville in 1999 which is when they changed to the Titans.
- Vikings
- You may see this jersey and it looks similar to the regular jerseys, the little details and changes make the jersey super clean and one of the best. Details like the gray face mask and yellow around the numbers are what make this jersey great. For older fans, it may remind them of the “Purple People Eaters” teams that reached the Super Bowl 4 times.
- Seahawks
- This jersey goes back to the 90s era and recalls the time when the Seahawks played in the Kingdom. The jersey is clean and features a cool color scheme. The blue with the green and white highlights are very nice and the older and changed logo on the helmet is really cool as well. Older fans may be reminded of former Seahawks wide receiver Steve Largent.
- Eagles
- As a Giants fan, it is hard to see the Eagles at the top of any list. Nevertheless, this jersey checks all the boxes. It is simple, yet clean. On the day of the release, Eagles fans flocked to the team store to get their hands on one of these gems. The Kelly Green’s were worn from 1935 to 1996. Seeing this jersey may remind older fans of players like Randall Cunningham and Reggie White.
