Pre Season Interview with Francesco LoGrippo
With schedules and rosters officially out, the Varsity Ice Hockey team is being slightly overlooked this time around. I had the pleasure of talking with Francesco “Cecco” LoGrippo, who gave us an inside look at what is to come.
Speaking with many of the hockey guys, they see you as a leader heading into the season. So, how do you see yourself leading this team to a successful year?
Well, first off I am excited to see the leadership from co-captains Sutton Collins and Andrew Temo. I think being a positive team player throughout the season will help lead the team to a successful season. Additionally, the team chemistry will be really good this year as well which should lead us to a successful season.
How do you think the team will perform this year, especially after our hockey program graduated some great seniors?
We definitely lost some great talent in players like Colin Reis and Ciaran Kelly but I think we certainly will be able to make up for those lost points with new guys. Some other players to look out for on offense this year are Meade Gibbons, Sebastian Leach, and Henry Zahn. We will also have a strong defensive unit led by Sutton and Temo.
What can the OP community expect for this coming season?
They can expect some exciting games this season versus teams like Chatham, Madison, and Morristown. The attendance from the rowdies last year was a little disappointing so we hope this year we can get some better attendance this year.
How do you stay at the top of your game during the offseason?
Like most of the other guys on the team, I played travel hockey this fall. I also have tried to utilize the school’s resources with Challenger Strength for off-ice workouts.
What are some personal and team goals you have for the upcoming season?
Our team goal for this year is to make it to the Kelly championship again and this time win the whole thing.
