The Class Wars are a highly anticipated event at OP every Christmas season. The Class Wars are an annual competition between grades 7th vs 8th, 9th vs 10th, and 11th vs 12th. Centered around Christmas, all the mini-competitions carry a festive theme. This year brings back some fan favorites while also introducing new events. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
The Gift Wrapping Contest is a game of skill and speed. Each contestant must wrap several objects to the best of their ability, each object getting trickier to wrap the more you progress.
The Staring Contest is pretty self-explanatory, don’t blink. May the moistest eyes win.
The Wreath Throwing Contest requires more skill than you’d think. Each participant is given three wreaths to toss onto a tee. Whoever lands the most before the buzzer goes off wins a point for their team.
The Tricycle Race is known for its unpredictability. Last year, one of the tricycles broke and the Student Council team had to develop a new solution. This year the race could be on Big Wheels, scooters, or even just walking backwards. It’s all part of the surprise. Racers will have to tackle the racetrack competing to either cross the finish line before their opponent or clock in a faster time, depending on how many tricycles we end up having.
The Cookie Face Race tests your IQ, determination, balance, and head shimmying skills. The participant must move a cookie from their forehead into their mouth, without using their hands. It’s the race of the ages.
The Spelling Bee is a nice change of pace from the other painfully exhilarating events. These brainiacs will put their knowledge to the test to see if they can spell some tricky “Christmasy” words such as “Santa” or “eggnog”. Better study your Christmas-themed dictionaries because this is no freebie.
Christmas Movie Trivia is yet another knowledgeable challenge. Participants better start binge-watching every Christmas movie in existence if they want to bring home a point for their team.
Last but certainly not least, we have the Tug of War. This clash between grades is the biggest event throughout all of the Class Wars. Fifteen hefty fellas will line up and grab hold of the rope and begin to tug. The strongest team will come out on top.
This year, there are two new events, the Gingerbread House Making Contest and the Stocking Stuffer Guessing Game.
The Gingerbread House Making Contest takes three lucky guys and they’ll have to use their teamwork and gingerbread house-making skills to see which group of three creates the best-looking home. This event takes much longer than the others, the participants will be off towards the side, not out of sight but out of the way, and the other games will go on as this one takes place.
The Stocking Stuffer Guesser Game, or Double S Double G, is all about chemistry. Two teammates will step up to the occasion. They will be back to back, one pulls a random item out of a stocking and describes it without saying what it is. The other person will attempt to guess it and whichever team guesses the most items wins.
That’s everything you need to know about every game for this year’s Christmas Class Wars. Merry Christmas!
