The former Chicago Cub, Marcus Stroman, entered Free Agency coming off one of his best seasons in the major leagues. He was put into the shadows this offseason with big names such as Blake Snell, Shane Beiber, and Dylan Cease. The Yankees knew they needed a starting pitcher, and did not take their eyes off of Stroman. The two-time all-star (2019, 2023) thrives off energy, and being in the Bronx is just what he needs. Cashman realizes that the clubhouse morale is low, and bringing in a high-energy guy like Stroman is a brilliant move.
Stroman signed a 2-year/ $37 Million Contract, which is a steal considering he has been very consistent in throwing lots of innings, and not being injury-prone. For a guy who was the CY Young leader heading into the second half of the season, the Yankees know what they can get. Having a sub-4 ERA and pitching around 140 innings is great. He can keep the ball on the ground which is amazing for the notorious Yankee Stadium. Having about 2 walks per game is stellar, and will play to his advantage. This is a great deal, and I am excited to see what he can do.
