Over the weekend, I was dragged to the movie theater by my mom (love you Mom) to watch a movie called “Cabrini”. The story of Cabrini follows a woman, Mother Cabrini, and her quest to spread love and hope throughout the Western world, notably America. After being told to focus on the increasing problem of racism in America toward Italian immigrants by the Pope himself, Cabrini and her group of sisters embarked to America with nothing but a suitcase. The movie describes her struggles as she dealt with racism, sexism, and a terminal lung disease while saving children from poverty and gang violence. The story stays faithful to the source material while being entertaining and kept me engaged the entire time. Cabrini helped remind its viewers of the very real problem that is racism and that we can do something about it, no matter the odds stacked against us. Cabrini, who was canonized shortly after her death, still has a lasting impact on the modern world. Her orphanages and hospitals stand proud against the testament of time itself all throughout the world. Mother Cabrini is proof that anyone can do anything through Christ, and the movie portrays it beautifully. If you’re Italian and want to learn more about your heritage, an American History fanatic, or just want to know more about your faith, then give Cabrini a try. I promise you won’t regret it.
Cabrini is a Piece of American History That Will Pull on Your Heartstrings
