Going back four years there were things that could have been useful to know as a little freshman. First of all, I wish I knew my haircut was terrible because I looked like a little toothpick. I wish I was forced to be more inspired in my education and academic grades early on. If I had a senior to tell me that I should focus on getting great grades early on I would have been more comfortable going to college. I wish I knew more of time management, like balancing classes, extracurricular activities, social life, and personal time. This would have made my life easier and not stressful. Advice I wish I had was to seek help and not be afraid to ask for help. It’s important to ask questions in school when you don’t know something. There is no reason to be embarrassed or nervous to ask. You will never make it anywhere if you don’t speak up and use your voice. I wish I had a senior to tell me to get more involved in school opportunities. Exploring personal growth outside of school, exploring different clubs, volunteer opportunities, internships, and part-time jobs. I wish I was told when I was a freshman to keep a stray mindset in life. Taking care of yourself with mental health is crucial for success in anything you do in life. If you’re not in the right mindset you’re not going to make it anywhere in life. One of the most important things I wish I knew was networking. Having friends around you helps you build people you can rely on. The last thing I wish I knew was to appreciate everything I have and around me cause you only have a short 4 years that fly by.
