On Saturday, April 6th, Oratory headed down to the Summit Track to compete in the Summit Relays. This was the first meet of the year for the track squad. The team had strong opening performances in multiple relays. In the Varsity 1600 M race, Aidan Murphy ran a Personal Best with a 5:00.8, Murphy also ran a 2:17 800 time. Additionally, in the 1600, Jack Ebert ran a PR in the mile race with a 5:20.2. Meanwhile, in the Freshmen/Sophomore 4 by 200, Flynn Brezee ran a PR of 26.6. The last two races that took place also showed a lot of promise. In the 800 M SMR, a team consisting of Emmanuel Canuto, Zade Nassoura, Charlie Spiegle, and Aidan O’ Dowd set the school record. Canuto ran a 12.9 in the 100, Nassoura ran an 11.4 in the 100, Spiegle ran a 23.4 in the 200, and O’ Dowd ran a 53.8. Lastly, Oratory’s 4 by 400 squad consisting of three freshmen and a sophomore finished the meet strongly. Brennan McEvoy ran a 1:00.5, Luca Vessecchia ran a 1:01.2, Jake Toto ran a 1:03, and Matt Salaki ran a 1:02.4. The meet set a good tone for the track season even with the absence of Oratory’s top performers who did not run.
