The Oratory Prep Soccer team began their season against NO.15 in the state Westfield last week. Although the Rams lost 5-1, they were still determined to win as they traveled to Roselle on Tuesday. The Rams started slowly on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. It was Roselle who struck first with an outside of the box banger to put them ahead 1-0 midway through the first half. It took the Rams 32 minutes until they found the back of the net with Henry Griffith’s first goal of the season. After a long half time talk by Coach Barresi, the Rams looked like they returned to the way they had been playing during the pre season scrimmages. Henry Griffiths found the goal once again 8 minutes into the second half thanks to a Max Cook assist. Roselle would tie the game a few moments later as the ref called a controversial Oratory hand ball in the box. Although the game was all square once again, the Rams would keep their heads up and look to respond. Enzo Sarango would tally his first goal of the season to put the Rams ahead 3-2. Max Cook would also score a goal off a free kick to give the Rams insurance as the would go onto win 4-2. The Rams now stand 1-1 and play ALJ (1-0) away in their first divisional game of the season. They open up at home with another divisional game against Summit Tuesday September 17th.
