Spirit Week 2024 is coming in full swing, and one of the highlights is the highly anticipated Dodgeball Tournament. This event showcases OP’s most competitive athletes as they battle it in a showdown. Alongside the action comes the ever-popular Dodgeball Power Rankings, where we look at the top contenders for this year’s tournament. Here are our picks for the 2024 Dodgeball Tournament!
- Doritos
These young 7th-grade prospects come 14th in our rankings. The squad is led by Adam Swift better known as “Ian Heff Junior.” They get a bye for the first round but will await Team SC or Tortilla.
- Team SC
This team has experience like no other, ranging from 8th grade to 12th. Team SC has some underrated stars, including the experienced dodgeballer from last year, Jerry Du, and Brody Henderson, who will have a huge role in the squad. We will see if they can upset Tortilla in the first round.
- Bruce’s Boys
A team full of freshmen looking to make some noise. Mr. Van Hoven is the star, but we will see if there’s a potential breakout star for Bruce’s Boys. They will have a tough first-round matchup against Zapata Academy.
- Gordon’s Goons
Chemistry Mr. Gordon and a squad of sophomores will go into battle against Oniwinde Elite, which should be a close matchup. Look out for Patrick Roberts who can be an underrated star for the Goons.
- Fagan and Friends
Led by Jack Fagan, this 8th-grade squad is ready to possibly make a statement. Having Mr. Daughtery is a huge advantage, and they will look to upset Team Goon in the first round.
- Manna’s Cannons Part 3
Another team of freshmen, Manna’s Cannons has both of Mr. Blauners top baseball prodigies! We will see if Jacob Minnefor and Gus Grove can help the Cannons go on a run in this tournament. They will have to upset Jalen Brodgon’s team for that to happen which will not be an easy task.
- Oniwinde Elite
This third freshman squad could potentially be the best one. These guys have some underrated athletic ability. They should be the favorite over Gordon’s Goons, but it will be a close one.
- The Volts Regional 3.0
Coming back for another year, the Volts look to redeem themselves. The Volts have a tough first-round matchup against Sean’s Party and will have to showcase their skills in a huge way to pull off the win.
- Tortilla
Led by Blake Duddy, Tortilla will look to make a run! They have a relatively easy run to the semi-finals unless something unexpected happens. I expect to see the squad make the semi-finals, with the bracket being very much in their favor.
- Team Goon
The second of four Junior teams to be listed, Team Goon comes out at number 5 in our power rankings. Led by the duo of Eric Devomcourt and Jack Ebert, the Goons will have to defeat Fagan and Freinds in a highly anticipated round 1 matchup.
- The Zapata Academy
Zapata Academy will be led by their obvious star and captain Derek Zapata. This team has a lot of potential and could make the semi-finals, potentially even the championship. We will have to see what the Academy can bring to the table.
- Sean’s Party
A team full of seniors, plus Mr. Sartori is ready to make a huge mark on this tournament. Sean’s Party should have a relatively easy run to the semi-finals with Henry Bolster, Caden Breault, Ryan Santo, and the 5 Charlie’s being the headline of the team.
- Banter Club
Banter Club deserves some credit. The team has a lot of good players and will most likely play Jalen Brogdon’s Team in the second round of the tournament in a monster matchup!
- Jalen Brodgon’s Team
Are they overhyped or are they the real deal? Jalen Brogdon is very confident in his team’s ability to win the championship this year. Will it happen? We will see next week.
