Oratory Prep soccer defeated Woodbridge on Saturday, 4-3, after a miraculous comeback in the final minutes of the game. Oratory was down on numbers as captain Brody Henderson was out for a second straight time, Julian Stauffer was sidelined with injury, and promising freshman Alex Pando was out with illness. Although this was the case the Rams were still determined to get a W Saturday morning at Cavalero Field. The Rams played pretty sound defense in the first half keeping a clean sheet. Jack Ebert had an impressive game throughout, saving a goal with an awesome slide tackle with 5 minutes left in the first half. This seemed to set the tone as Max Cook earned his 14th goal of the year with another free kick goal. Cook has now scored in back to back games off free kicks, as he chasing a 20 goal season. Although the Rams were up 1-0 at the end of the first half, Coach B was disappointed yet again. The Rams have not been playing their best version of soccer since the county tournament loss to Scotch Plains. He looked upon them to find the fire they held during that run, and to use that to put this Woodbridge team away. After an error by goalkeeper George Fagan, Woodbridge would tie the game, eventually take the lead, and later double it. Woodbridge was looking for victory with a 3-1 lead 5 minutes from stoppage. The “fourth quarter” Rams cut the lead in half with a Henry Griffiths goal with only a few minutes remaining. Then off a long through, Max Cook’s shot went off the post and was rebounded by Jack Olohan for the game tying goal. Olohan scored his first goal of the season with only a minute left on the clock as he would be the difference maker. Olohan would not stop there and proceed to have the winning goal for the Rams to make it a 4-3 in for the books. Olohan scored his first two goal of the season, winning MOTM honors in a very well deserved manner. Max Cook, Charlie Spiegle, and Aidan Fahy all had key assists to help add to the scoring as the Rams now improve to 8-9 on the season. OP now undergoes the last week of the regular season playing Linden and Princeton Day at home before traveling to South Orange to play Colombia.
