- Hypemas
- Hypemas is a basketball game like no other that every student has to experience AT LEAST once. These past two seasons have been electric with a triple-threat-mega-special effect to the game; it was our home opener, the last game before Christmas break (that’s why it’s called Hypemas), and it was against our rival Summit. We cooked Summit both times, defending our crown as the Kings of Summit. Our starting lineup is looking loaded this year with a very strong bench. The game is always Christmas-themed as you might’ve guessed, and I expect to see full attendance this year.
- Dodgeball
- The Dodgeball Tournament occurs in the middle of October and is an essential part of Spirit Week. This tournament displays a tremendous amount of athleticism across all grades, 7th-12th. Seniors go into the tournament with the goal of becoming champions but lower grades come into it looking for a massive upset. Overall, the Dodgeball Tournament is an exciting event for the players and all the students cheering on their favorite team. Sign-ups are still available make sure you send your team in!
- Semi/Prom
- The Freshman-Sophomore Semi is an annual event that every man, woman, and child deserves to attend. Unfortunately, only men (and their dates) can. It takes place every spring on a three-story yacht, with a roof deck, dancefloor, and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The boat sails to the Statue of Liberty and is sure to be a dance you won’t forget. The Junior-Senior Prom is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Juniors and Seniors are invited to have an amazing night full of dancing, music, and just genuine fun. With many pre-parties and after-parties, the Prom starts early and ends late into the night, giving seniors some incredible memories to end their high school career.
Honorable Mention
- Bain Bash
- The OP Dance, known by many as the Bain Bash, is a great event to start off the school year. This event, which takes place in late September or early October, gives high school students an opportunity to hang out with their classmates and meet people from other schools. Oratory goes out of its way to invite not one, not two, not even three, but eight all-girl schools to the event to make sure you get to know some new people. The majority of OP students that attend are freshmen and sophomores, and this event allows them to form new friendships. Attendance has, unfortunately, been on a decline recently, but it remains a great event that is sure to be remembered.
