Oratory Prep’s bowling team is off to a great start, beginning their season with a 5-1 record. This is the best start OP bowling has had since the 2012-2013 season, where they started 4-0. That team went on to finish 13-1, and this team is on the same track. To start the year, the Rams demolished Roselle Catholic 7-0. This win was the result of a big game by Keegan Murphy who scored 461 points, followed by Chris Rotolo who scored 458. To follow this performance, the Rams rolled over Union with a 5-2 victory. Union took the first match but the Rams came back from behind for the win. Marco Bianchi led the way with 438 points, and Donald Yapczenski scored a career-high 173.
However, this hot start came to a halt when they lost to Johnson 7-0. Johnson is a dominant team who has only let up 2 points all season. While this was a tough loss, the team played well, scoring a respectable 1,999 points. To respond to this loss, the Rams destroyed Roselle 7-0. Chris Rotolo set the game-high 463 points. This decisive 694-point win was crucial to get the guys back on track. The very next day, the Rams defeated Dayton in a shutout 7-0 win. Keegan Murphy set a game-high 479 points. Expect the Rams to continue this winning streak as they face weaker teams in the near future, replaying Roselle and Roselle Catholic in the coming weeks. The Rams currently sit second overall in the Mountain division at 4-1 in the conference, only behind Johnson who is 6-0 in conference. While Johnson is off to a strong start, the Rams are in close competition for the Mountain Division title.
