The Ramily Club is a new initiative at Oratory Prep this year. It’s a student-started club that focuses on the mental health and wellness of fellow students in any grade. It was created to address the need for easier access to help with issues almost every student faces daily: stress, anxiety, and promoting skills such as organization and punctuality. The club, though still newly created and still finding out exactly how it can help the student body, currently offers sessions before school as often as possible (usually weekly). These sessions consist of some time on the focus for that meeting, some previous ones were focused on organization and stress management, and are usually concluded with a 10-minute meditation to help the students start their day calm and focused. Some founding members have also started a podcast, where they speak and advise on problems they feel are most pressing, while also having guests talk about things happening around Oratory and give their views on such problems. Looking forward, the club is looking to bring in experts in the field of mindfulness and the neuroscience behind it to help bring awareness and actual scientific solutions to issues that plague many. If you are interested in attending or benefiting from this new program, more information can be found in the daily announcements, emails regarding events, and on fliers around campus for specific events. Keep an eye out for upcoming meetings, and feel free to attend and join the growing roster of students hoping to help each other with kindness and without judgment.
