The St. Philip Neri Club is excited to host its second annual Souper Bowl Drive! Last year’s Souper Bowl was a tremendous success as we were able to donate over 1,000 cans of soup and $1000 to The Community Food Bank of New Jersey, located in Hillside. This event provides a great way for everyone to celebrate in the excitement of the Big Game all while focusing on giving back to those in need.
CFBNJ is the second-largest food pantry in the United States, serving over 675,000 hungry and food-insecure individuals, including 185,00 children across our state. As a volunteer and member of the Teen Leadership Board, I have seen firsthand how much good CFBNJ does working to end hunger in our state. There are over 800 community partnerships, including food pantries, soup kitchens, senior citizen programs, and children’s hunger relief programs that CFBNJ provides outreach for. This time of year they are asking for hearty soups and stews to bring warmth and nourishment to those they serve.
Ways to get involved:
- Bring in soup cans: We’ll collect donations through Friday, February 7th. Please make sure the cans have labels and nutritional information, and remember—no glass containers. Drop-off locations are in Bain and DeGaeta
- Participate in Football Jersey Tag Day on Friday, February 7th: This will be our “Souper Bowl Championship Friday.” You can participate in Tag Day by either:
- Paying $5, or
- Paying $3 plus bringing in 3 cans of soup.
Be sure to wear your favorite football jersey or team colors to add excitement to the weekend and the soup drive!
- Amazon Wish List: If you can’t make it to the store, no problem! You can still help by ordering soup directly through the St. Philip Neri Club’s Amazon Wish List. Just click on the link and have your donation shipped straight to us:
- Play along with our SOUPer Bowl trivia games: Leading up to tag day you will have a chance to test your knowledge about food insecurity and football trivia. Winners will receive a free tag day on February 7th.
- Be a SOUPER fan and volunteer at CFBNJ! SOUPER Bowl Saturday is returning to CFBNJ’s warehouse in Hillside on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The event starts with a Volunteer Shift from 9 AM to 11 AM followed by Halftime Snacks and Fun Activities
- Calling all kids aged 6 and up—bring your families and join the fun! Learn more about strengthening food security and engage in giving back to the community at SOUPER Bowl Saturday.
- The event offers the opportunity to gather together in the act of making a difference, share your voice to spread awareness about CFBNJ’s mission, and raise funds to provide food, help, and hope to our neighbors in need.
Ticket and sponsorship opportunities are available. Volunteer shifts are limited. The event RSVP deadline is Friday, January 24, 2025.
