Top 5 Super Bowls Of All Time
- Super Bowl XLII between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots
This Super Bowl took place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Giants beat the Patriots with a score of 17-14. This loss ended the Patriots hopes of a perfect season. The game is mostly remembered for the final drive where Eli Manning threw a 32 yd pass to David Tyree to make the historic helmet catch. This catch saved the drive for the Giants which later turned into the game winning touchdown with 35 seconds left in the 4th quarter.
- Super Bowl XIII between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys
This Super Bowl goes in my number 4 spot because it is an all time classic between America’s team and the Steel Curtain. It was held at the Miami Orange Bowl. This was a highly anticipated rematch between the two. They were fighting for the title of being the first team to reach three Superbowls. The Steelers took a big lead of 35-17. The Cowboys clawed their way all the way back to be one touchdown away from tying and Roger Staubach threw a wide open pass to Jackie Smith where he dropped it in the end zone. The Steelers won 35-31 becoming the first 3 time Superbowl champions.
- Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and the Seatle Seahawks
This was a super bowl classic with one of the best endings in history and that is why it finds itself in the third spot on my list. This was Tom Brady’s first time back to the Super Bowl since 2012 when he lost to the Giants. While Legion of Boom led Seattle Seahawks are trying to go back to back Super Bowls. The game was close. With almost no time left in the game the Seahawks find themselves on the Patriots 1 yd line with the best running back in the league of Marshawn Lynch. Rather than running it they passed the ball right into Malcom Butler’s hand throwing the game sealing interception to let the Patriots win 28-24.
- Super Bowl XXV between the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills
This game takes the number two spot on the list for the ending. Taking place at Tampa Stadium in Florida. The Giants had control of the entire game but never took a big lead. The Bills had the last possession of the ball and were in field goal range. They lined up to kick the field goal and their kicker shanked the kick missing the field goal. This was a very big discussion at the time because helicopters were circling above the stadium and some people believe that the wind from them caused the ball to miss but with the way the Giants narrowly defeated the Bills 20-19 giving the Giants their second Super Bowl victory.
- Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons
This takes the number one spot on the list because of the amazing comeback from Tom Brady. This took place in NRG Stadium in Houston Texas. Tom Brady appeared in his 7th Superbowl and the Falcons coming off the best season they’ve ever had and appearing in the first Superbowl since losing to Brett Favre’s packers. The Falcons had a huge lead of 28-3 going into halftime. When the second half started the game flipped the Patriots managed to tie the game and made it the first Super Bowl to ever go to overtime. The Patriots won the coin toss in overtime and got the ball and scored a touchdown to win 34-28. The comeback would have never been possible without Super Bowl MVP Julien Edelman with the miraculous catch in overtime to keep their drive alive.
