As March has finally begun, it’s a great time to talk about the significance of this month, a month that many might overlook due to its lack of important holidays. However, there are plenty of interesting things to look forward to. Here are some of them.
Women’s History Month
March is celebrated as Women’s History Month, a month to honor all the important contributions made by women throughout history, and the achievements they made for equality in gender. It was proclaimed by President Jimmy Carter in 1980, who on March 8, declared the week Women’s History Week. However, soon after, Congress decided with persuasion from the “Women’s National History Project,” to extend it to the entire month. The month reflects on all the progress we made in closing the gender gaps in our world, and many hope to continue. The National Women’s History Alliance presented 2025’s theme for the month, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations.” With all this in mind, take the time this month to remember the struggles and achievements of women throughout our history to bring us to where we are today.
Total Lunar Eclipse
On March 14, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will take place over the U.S. This unique phenomenon, also known as the “Blood Moon,” will make the moon appear a strange reddish color.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes Earth’s shadow while it is on the opposite side of Earth. During most scenarios like this, the moon’s tilt brings it slightly above or below the shadow. However, in this instance, the entire moon moves completely into the Earth’s shadow, blocking out all light from the sun.
This creates a truly unique experience and even better, unlike the solar eclipse last year, this one doesn’t require special gear such as eclipse glasses to see. So all you need to do is head outside on the 14th, and enjoy seeing the moon’s new color.
Spring Equinox
On March 20, we will arrive on the day of what’s known as the Spring Equinox. This day marks the start of the Spring season for us in the Northern Hemisphere. During this day, the Earth will become perpendicular to the Sun, and the Sun will shine directly toward the Equator. Night and day will become the same length for once, and it is officially the first day of Spring in astronomical terms. With that, we have warmer weather to look forward to this March.
