New York Yankees:
Thanks to a strong offensive display, the Yankees swept their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Their 20-9 win on Saturday, in which they hit a team-record nine home runs, including three in a row by Aaron Judge, who also recorded eight RBIs, was the high point of their 36-run total. The second game was another blowout due to two home runs from Jazz Chisolm and led to a 12-3 win. This squad has been using the new “Torpedo Bats”, and they definitely helped them out. The Yankees put the haters to rest with their offensive display.
Boston Red Sox:
Over the weekend, the Red Sox played the Texas Rangers. Wilyer Abreu went 3-for-3, hitting two home runs, and leading his team to a 5-2 win. But on Saturday, the Rangers played a lot better and won 4-3 in the 10th inning. As anticipated, their offense was outstanding, but it wasn’t led by the people you might think. Rafael Devers, who has struck out 15 times in 19 at-bats, has been a letdown for the team.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays opened their season against the Rockies at the Yankees’ spring training facility due to the hurricanes and damages to Tropicana Field. Youngster Kameron Misner blasted a walk-off in the ninth inning to help the Rays win 3-2. They went on to lose game two 1-2 before winning game three 3-2. Yandy Diaz was not particularly successful in the series, but he expects to rebound.
Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles:
The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles split a four-game series 2-2 to start the 2025 season. As the Orioles crushed the first game, prevailing 12–2, and setting a new record with six home runs, Adley Rutschman had an incredible 5-for-5 outing. Toronto’s 9-5 triumph on Saturday was an answer to Baltimore’s defensive errors. Chris Bassitt’s excellent game and Tyler Heineman’s home run helped them win 3-1 on Sunday. The Orioles’ offense slowed after their exciting opening game, but they won the last game to preserve a split.
